If you are fed up with porn or you are thinking it could be unhealthy for you – there is another way to enjoy your body. This is known as Mindful Masturbation. Mindful Masturbation is the practice of combining mindfulness—a state of focused, non-judgmental awareness of the present moment—with masturbation. Rather than being stuck in your head with images and being goal orientated towards an orgasm Mindful Masturbation emphasizes intention, presence, and bodily awareness.
Key Aspects of Mindful Masturbation:
Slowing down: Focusing on the sensations, not just the goal of orgasm.
Breath awareness: Breathing deeply to stay grounded and connected to your body.
No distractions: Fully feel what’s happening in your body – try and stay away from images in your head and don’t use porn or outside stimulation
Self-exploration: Paying attention to what feels good physically and emotionally – use oils notice the hot shower – the sense of the towel on your skin
Emotional awareness: Noticing feelings that come up during the act—like shame, pleasure, or tension—and meet them with compassion – try not to judge them
Benefits:
Improved sexual satisfaction and awareness
Reduced performance anxiety or shame
Better understanding of your body and desires – for you and for you to share with your partner if you want to.
